Advocacy for Supporting Practical Skills Development at Masaka Resource Centre for the Blind

The Masaka Resource Centre for the Blind is a shining example of resilience and determination, empowering persons with visual impairments through vocational training in sewing, soap making, farming, animal husbandry, and massage therapy. The dedication of both trainers and learners is commendable, and their efforts contribute significantly towards building inclusive and self-reliant communities.

However, despite their enthusiasm and progress, the centre faces critical challenges that limit the effectiveness of its training programs. Outdated teaching aids and a lack of adequate tools, especially for hands-on skills like soap making, hinder learners’ ability to fully develop their potential. This not only impacts their confidence but also restricts their ability to produce quality goods that could serve as source of income and independence.
